| Daewoo has a difficult job competing with the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra, so it appeals to buyers more directly by offering more equipment and lower prices. On that level it certainly excels, but there have been some very notable improvements to quality with the latest Nubira. The interior is now reasonably finished, while the steering wheel and driver's seat are adjustable. The rear seat is quite large, too, providing passengers with more support and space than is usual. The driving experience is nothing special. This isn't a car you want to drive enthusiastically: it bounces over uneven surfaces and the steering is rather lifeless. The 1.6 engine is economical though, returning almost 40mpg, and the 1.8 is quite powerful but a bit noisy. Nubira is a value-for-money medium-sized family car that comes complete with a three-year servicing package and comprehensive warranty. But buyers should beware possibly heavy future depreciation. |
